The graphics are bright, fun and engaging. The book closes out with some ideas for soccer based games. There's even a section about variations on the game based on location (beach volleyball), player physical abilities, or just mixing it up for fun.

It discusses a few basics at the beginning but then delves into the history of the game, ball design, names for the game all over the world, and the superstars on each continent. This is a great book for a kiddo who's into soccer. ***Note: I was given a copy of this book by Quarto Kids. A nice book for sports-loving children to have in their home library! The topic is comprehensively covered and well organized. Illustrations are paired nicely with the text, and the use of real photos, maps and other diagrams is excellent. I appreciate that equal attention is given to women and men teams.

I love that the book takes a global focus, as soccer is indeed the world's most popular sport. There are not many others in this category (but there are a ton of ocean and space books). I think I particularly like this soccer-themed book because it stands out as a unique nonfiction book.
